Local Carers Network – Support for Carers

Are you a carer? Do you look after someone? A parent, a partner, a friend or neighbour?

Carers Network is a local independent charity that can help you if you are over 18 and looking after an adult living in The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, City of Westminster or London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham.

The End of Life Carers Project supports Carers caring for loved ones with a terminal illness, over 80 and vulnerable or with long-term complex health needs.  The way it is done is by undertaking non-clinical complex casework, advocacy, delivering workshops and training on subjects that matter to Carers e.g. Lasting Power of Attorney, Wills, Advance Care Planning, Funeral Payment Expenses, Bereavement. Full of Life’s Carer’s Advocacy Service

Full of Life was founded in 1994 by parents who were dissatisfied with the lack of information and support that they needed to raise a child with additional needs. Parents came together to establish a single organisation that empowered and supported parents on their lifelong journey of caring. Full of Life continues to grow and now supports over 750 families across Kensington and Chelsea.

Their Carer’s Advocacy Service offers independent practical support, advice, and information for parent carers who live in Kensington and Chelsea and have a child (14+) or an adult with a disability.

The service covers the following areas:

  • Issues relating to Social Services, such as Carer’s Assessments, Needs Assessments, and access to services
  • Support with the transition from Children’s to Adult Services
  • Education advice (16+)
  • General information and advice on benefits and housing
  • Form filling (benefits, grants, and applications)
  • Support with attending meetings and reviews
  • Advice and support regarding complaints
  • Liaising with services and professionals to access the best support for families
  • A quarterly newsletter for parent carers

Additionally, the Carer’s Advocacy Service works to ensure that parent carers and their families are at the heart of service development.
